Genome wide selection and new methods of maize breeding

چکیده
Genome wide selection and new methods of maize breeding The objectives of this work were to verify the accuracy of the Genome Wide Selection method (GWS) in the maize breeding for nutritional stress conditions and propose new breeding methods based on GWS. The efficiency of two components of use of nitrogen and phosphorus (absorption and utilization) was estimated in 41 single-cross hybrids assessed in two experiments under low and high availability of N and P. Eighty microsatellite markers were used to genotype the base population. The estimates of genetic parameters were obtained by REML/BLUP and the predictions of genetic genomic values were obtained by random regression (RR), applied to genome wide selection (RR-BLUP/ GWS). GWS showed high values of accuracy for the traits; it was comparable to the methods of Recurrent Intra and Interpopulational Selection. It was concluded that there is a significant increase in selective accuracy and in the genetic gains per unit of time with use of GWS.

متن کاملThe Impact of Different Genetic Architectures on Accuracy of Genomic Selection Using Three Bayesian Methods
Genome-wide evaluation uses the associations of a large number of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers across the whole genome and then combines the statistical methods with genomic data to predict the genetic values. Genomic predictions relieson linkage disequilibrium (LD) between genetic markers and quantitative trait loci (QTL) in a population. Methods that use all markers simultaneo...

Domestication and selection are processes that conserve the pattern of genetic diversities between and within populations. Identification of genomic regions that are targets of selection for phenotypic traits is one of the main aims of research in animal genetics. An approach for identifying divergently selected regions of the genome is to compare FST values among loci to estimate the genetic v...

Recently genetic studies have been revolutionized by next generation sequencing (NGS) technology, and it is expected that the use of this technology will largely eliminate defects in the methods of association studies. The NGS technology is becoming the premier tool in genetics. However, at the moment the use of this method is limited especially in the livestock due to high cost and computation...
متن کاملUnveiling the genetic loci for a panicle developmental trait using genome-wide association study in rice
Panicle size has a high correlation with grain yield in rice. There is a bottleneck to identify the additional quantitative trait loci (QTL) for panicle size due to the conventional traits used for QTL mapping. To identify more genetic loci for panicle size, a panicle developmental trait (LNTB, the length from panicle neck-knot to the first primary branch in the rachis) related to panicle size ...
